You can choose your preferred group and fill out the necessary information. You will be contacted within a week to set up a brief phone consultation where you will be able to ask additional questions and decide if the group would be a good fit for your child.

What are the costs?

This summer, we offer a variety of therapy groups tailored to different needs. To participate, the cost of the group is $450 total. The cost includes all materials that will be needed, an intake prior to group beginning, 7 group therapy sessions, and a parent session at the conclusion of group if appropriate.

Each group is led by a qualified therapist and a school counselor. A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required to guarantee your spot. Groups rely on consistency of participants showing up so the remaining payment will be due two weeks prior to group beginning.

If your child has to miss a group, the cost remains the same. We recognize the commitment both time and monetarily, but it is important for them to participate each week for themselves and for the others in the group.

What is the duration and frequency of the sessions?

Our summer therapy groups will run for seven weeks, with sessions held once a week. Each session lasts approximately 55 minutes, allowing ample time for discussion, activities, and support among participants. Groups will be held on Wednesdays from June 18th-July 30th and times are TBD.

Can I join a group if I have never participated in therapy before?

Absolutely! Our summer therapy groups are open to individuals with varying levels of experience in therapy. Whether you are new to therapy or have participated in the past, our groups are designed to be welcoming and supportive for everyone.

Meet Our Skilled Therapists

Shayna Sargent, LCSW

For over ten years, I worked as a school social worker and provided counseling support to children who were suffering from social, emotional, and behavioral challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, ADHD, and bullying. In addition, I lead an academy course for teachers and staff in Fairfax County  that was focused on the impact of trauma on children and how to best support them. I have been trained in some play based therapies and enjoy applying those techniques in session as well.  I am a big kid at heart and love incorporating fun and joy into therapy through various play based and expressive arts therapy.

Alexis Pozinsky, Masters in School Counseling

With six years of experience as a school counselor in Fairfax County Public Schools, I've had the privilege of supporting children and teens navigating a wide range of social, emotional, and academic challenges. My areas of specialization include neurodiversity, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, grief, and depression. I believe in a holistic and compassionate approach, tailored to each individual's unique needs. As a parent of a teenage daughter, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my work. When I'm not supporting students, you can find me immersed in a good book or thrifting with my daughter.
