The Anxiety "Coping Cat" Group
What is the Anxiety "Coping Cat" and C.A.T. Project therapy groups?
The Anxiety "Coping Cat" and "CAT project" Programs are an evidence-based, cognitive behavioral treatment specifically designed for children and adolescents with mild to moderate levels of anxiety. Treatment includes education, coping skills training, and gradual exposure to anxiety inducing scenarios, as well as homework assignments.

There are four components to treatment:
- Recognizing anxious feelings and physical reactions to anxiety
- Clarifying thoughts and feelings in anxious situations
- Developing a coping plan
- Evaluating performance and giving self-reinforcement

More about program
Duration and content:
The groups will be administered over 8 consecutive weeks. Using a workbook, children and teens are trained on specific concepts, and then practice and reinforce those concepts from the session. After learning concepts and strategies, children and teens practice the new skills in both imaginary and real life situations varying from low stress/low anxiety to high stress/high anxiety scenarios. Therapists may use modeling of real-life situations, role-playing, relaxation training, and contingent reinforcement during treatment.
Size of Group: 3-4 participants
Date and Time: CAT Project will be from 3-4pm and Coping Cat will be from 4:30-5:30pm. The day of the week and start date will be determined as referrals come in and what works best for everyone.

The cost includes an intake session with parent and child, a workbook for each participant to keep, 8 group therapy sessions, and 1 parent session. I can provide you with documentation to provide your insurance if you want to request reimbursement.
You can pay in full at the time of the intake or pay a $250 deposit and the remaining fee will be due after week 3. Group relies on consistent participation which is why the deposit is collected up front. However, I am willing to work with families on a payment plan if needed.
